You’ve probably seen in the news discussion about U.S. tariff policy and how it could impact the costs of energy and other goods. VGS has been closely monitoring guidance from the Federal Government to understand if import duties will be applied to energy imported from Canada, including natural gas.
On April 2, 2025, the Trump Administration initiated a new round of tariffs on countries other than Canada and Mexico. The accompanying Executive Order established that existing trade agreements between the U.S. and Canada are in effect, which means that the gas VGS imports from Canada is not subject to these tariffs. This guidance confirms that there is no tariff on the natural gas VGS imports.
