Customers to compete for votes via Facebook
March 26, 2018 – Burlington, VT – Efficiency Vermont, Burlington Electric Department, and Vermont Gas Systems are encouraging customers to go viral.
Efficiency Vermont, in partnership with Burlington Electric Department and Vermont Gas Systems, launched a contest challenging customers to submit 60 second videos that show why their homes need home energy makeovers. Customers will be able to upload or share their Instagram or YouTube videos via the contest on Facebook. The video that receives the most votes will win a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®project of up to $5,000 with an Efficiency Excellence Network (EEN) contractor of their choice. The winner will also receive a free Nest thermostat and up to 12 ENERGY STAR® LEDs.
“This is a great chance to have some fun with your family and friends and win a great prize — all it takes is a smart phone and some creativity to win,” said Alison Emerson, Efficiency Vermont’s social media manager.
Alison offered a few tips for contest participants:
- Your video doesn’t have to be fancy. But it does have to be 60 seconds or less, and follow the official rules.
- Give folks a reason to vote for your video! Be creative and have fun, don’t hesitate to show us cute animals, funny kids, or even an original song.
- Use your video to tell us about your home and how you live in it. Almost all Vermont homes can benefit from air sealing and insulation.
- Rally your friends! While you have to be a Vermont resident to win, the votes can come from anywhere. So get the word out to your Facebook friends and ask them to share and vote for your video.
“We know our efficiency programs work — we hear from our customers how happy they are that our energy experts have been able to help them save money and reduce their energy needs,” said Beth Parent, Vermont Gas Communications and Brand Manager. “This contest is a great way for one lucky winner to transform their home and let thousands of others know we can help, even if they don’t win the grand prize.”
“Burlington Electric is very excited to join our energy efficiency partners at Vermont Gas and Efficiency Vermont in offering this creative contest to Vermonters,” said Chris Burns, Burlington Electric Department Director of Energy Services. “Weatherizing our homes can be one of the smartest ways to save energy and protect our precious environment.”
Three runners up will win free home energy audits with an EEN contractor of their choice, and up to 12 LEDs (free installation).
The contest starts today and runs through Earth Day (April 22). The potential Grand Prize Winner will be notified by email (via the email account used to submit your video) on or about April 23, 2018. Learn more on the Efficiency Vermont website about contest rules and how to enter.
