How to Contact Us:
VGS considers heat pumps to be part of a hybrid heat system and installs them with the understanding that there is a secondary source of heat available; an operational combustion-based heat source is highly suggested to be present. When emergency no-heat situations are the result of no electricity to the home, VGS will be unable to resolve the situation. After hours, we cannot respond to Heat Pump service requests on an emergency or no-heat basis but will prioritize such requests during regular business hours. You may reach us at 802-863-4511. Annual inspections will be scheduled during normal working hours, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We will respond to water heater service calls every day of the week from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm.
Coverage Term, Price Changes, and Cancellation:
Coverage begins 14 days after you sign up and automatically renews one year later. You will be billed monthly. Your Vermont Gas Service Plan will be automatically renewed on its anniversary date unless you notify us at least 30 days prior to the anniversary date. Rates and terms are subject to change. Communication about rate or term changes will be made electronically and before a new Service Plan contract year begins. This Service Plan is designed to cover the most common repairs to residential ductless mini-split heat pumps, centrally ducted heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters. It does not cover damage resulting from flooding, fire, freezing, lightning, power surges, delays, inability to get parts, vandalism, or customer negligence. If a replacement part is no longer manufactured, or otherwise unavailable, interchangeable parts may be used when necessary. Service Plan participants must provide VGS personnel with clear and safe access to any equipment covered by the Service Plan, and VGS shall not be required to perform repairs on equipment not safely accessible. VGS shall not be required to provide repairs exceeding $2,000 per Service Plan contract year. If you change your mind within 30 days of signing up and you have not used your service plan, we can cancel your plan and issue a full refund. Your plan may be cancelled by VGS if payments are delinquent more than 60 days.
Conditions for Coverage:
Acceptance and participation in the Service Plan is conditional and subject to the age and condition of your equipment. If necessary, a site inspection at VGS’s discretion may be required to confirm equipment is in good working order at the time the Service Plan goes into effect. Heat Pump equipment over 10 years of age will not be eligible for coverage under this Service plan. If, during a service call or inspection, it is determined that your equipment was installed or modified by an outside contractor, Vermont Gas may terminate your Service Plan immediately without any refund; you will not be responsible for the monthly payments remaining in the term and VGS will have no further responsibility for service or maintenance of your equipment. If it is determined that your equipment was not installed by VGS and is not in accordance with Federal, State, and local requirements, this Service Plan will not cover the costs to bring your equipment into compliance.
Plan Limitations
Certain routine maintenance services such as cleaning filters, spraying outside unit with water to clean it from pollen and leaves are not covered under the plan. In addition, labor and materials for the following components are not covered: line set, line hide, and any associated finish materials. VGS may provide repairs exceeding $2,000, but any costs above $2,000 per service plan per year will be charged at normal rates.
