On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, a third-party contractor struck one of VGS’s lines on Flynn Avenue in Burlington, VT. VGS was notified at 8:11am. Our technicians immediately responded, assessed the situation, and shut off gas service in the area as the first step to repair the line and restore service. Approximately 200 customers were temporarily impacted by this incident. A map showing the extent of outages is provided below. Following completion of repairs midday, VGS technicians have been in the area contacting customers in an effort to restore their service. UPDATE August 31: Yesterday, VGS’s service teams made substantial progress to restore service to three-quarters of the approximately 200 Burlington customers who were impacted by the outage caused after an unaffiliated contractor struck a gas line on Flynn Avenue in Burlington. By evening, our teams had attempted to contact each impacted business or residence in the area and left information at customers’ doors outlining how to contact VGS to reestablish service. We stand ready to assist the remaining customers on Flynn Avenue, Lake Forest Drive, Southwind Drive, and Oak Beach Drive. UPDATE 4:40pm: VGS teams have been working nonstop to restore service for the approximately 200 Burlington customers who were impacted by the outage caused by a third-party contractor this morning. Since the line was repaired midday, our field staff have canvassed area homes and businesses, and have restored service to 100 customers. Our teams will continue canvassing the area as residents return home this afternoon and evening. UPDATE 12:18pm: VGS crews have worked throughout the morning to repair the impacted line on Flynn Avenue. The line has been updated and tested, and is now operable. VGS teams have shifted to the process of restoring service for each impacted customer in the area. VGS personnel will be fanning out and contacting customers to complete the work. Our teams are moving as quickly and safely as possible to address outages.
