Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is produced by capturing methane generated from organic materials and converting it into usable energy. Through the VGS Renewable Natural Gas Program, customers can choose to purchase renewable attributes associated with RNG. Locally Sourced RNG supports renewable natural gas produced at participating farm-based projects in Vermont, providing an option for customers who wish to support Vermont-based RNG production.

The calculators below estimate the additional cost of participating in the RNG Program. These estimates represent the RNG adder that would appear on your bill and are in addition to your regular natural gas charges.

You can estimate costs in two ways:

  • Match a percentage of your annual natural gas usage with RNG (10%, 25%, 50%, or 100%).
  • Purchase a specific amount of RNG regardless of your natural gas usage.

Because these calculations use different inputs and participation methods, the estimated costs may differ.
